Growing poverty and disadvantage now affects over 17.7% (603,000)* of Australian children and youth; while traditional charity and social welfare processes go a long way to help the situation, the problems are worsening and poverty and its effects are INCREASING.
We need something different and significant to arrest this downward spiral...
Symphony For Life Foundation been created to make a real difference for children and youth living in poverty, disparity and disadvantage. Our model is powerful but very simple - by bringing music, active and creative learning, fun, structure, skills, guidance, encouragement, association and a sense of belonging, to children and youth; in combining these in a harmonious collaboration under the creative umbrella of an orchestra, we can initiate the creation of a musical community with purpose and commitment - and the potential for REAL change.
We will invite children and youth to join us, and then we'll work with them and their communities to develop and create better outlooks and futures. Symphony For Life Foundation will provide them with a free-of-charge, sustained, community-based network of rich and excellent orchestral art music programs for children and youth in need, in order to help create uplifting, positive changes in their lives, and a deep enriching sense of belonging. We will give them every opportunity to shine, thrive and encourage them to be the very best they can be, to help them reach their fullest potential in life. * ACOSS Report "Poverty In Australia 2016"
